Chinese New Year at the Symphony

Picture this: After a boisterous dragon dance, the organizer of the special CNY concert comes onstage to deliver her welcome and corporate thank-you speech. Polite applause all around as she gives her spiel in English. Then she switches to Chinese, says her first hello, and pauses. A child's voice rings out, "Qing Nian Kuai Le!" ("Happy New Year") and the whole room bursts into laughter.

Yeah, that was Sibyl. (In her defense, yelling that then would have been completely appropriate last night at school.)

Before the show there were lion dancers, stilt walkers, beauty pageant queens, and an "instrument petting zoo," where a guy was really teaching SIbyl how to make a trumpet make a noise.
