New Playground

Sibyl and her mom heard about another playground right around the corner from their house, so the whole family popped over while the sunny weather held.

Sibyl was delighted to have both parents at her disposal as she tried the swings, slide, and play structure.

More Teeth and a Few Milestones

Originally uploaded by jkollmer2
Sibyl's upper incisors started popping through her gums this morning, making a total of three teeth to show up this week.

She's had recent developments on the communications front, too: she now uses the sign language sign for "more" (alas, this is still without a direct object, and seems to mean a general "I want," leaving her parents asking, "More what?").

She also claps her hands, which can also mean "I want," when it doesn't mean "hooray," and has started pointing out interesting sights.

Essentially Sibyl has found three extra ways to say, "Give it to me now."

First Haircut

Sibyl's mom and pop thought she was looking a bit shaggy, so it was time for her first trip to the hair salon.

Sibyl got to sit in a racecar chair, and despite a lot of squirming and a few cross looks, endured all the fuss without shedding a tear.

Here's a snippet of the mayhem that is a toddler haircut:

California Winter

Sibyl's fourth tooth popped through yesterday--a right-side fang to go with her three bottom teeth--but that didn't stop her from enjoying the beautiful day.

Walking (with a Little Help)

Sibyl's becoming more and more bipedal, scooting around furniture, managing a few steps between one stable object and another, and traveling across the room with her walker.

Pop can be a very handy walker, too:

A Change of Direction

After nine months of Destroy mode, this is an interesting shift. Can loading the dishwasher be too far away?
