Taking the Crawligator for a Spin

Sibyl can almost work the Crawligator her Nana built. She pushes with her hands and kicks her feet in the air as if she were flying.

Once she realizes she can use this to move from point A to point B, we may be in trouble.

Sibyl has been practicing standing up and bouncing around in the jumper her Grandpa Herb got for her. At first she needed a phone book under her feet, but when we got home from Ohio her feet magically reached the floor.

The story of the acquisition of the Sibylline Books by Tarquinius is one of the famous mythic elements of Roman history. At Cumae, Virgil has Aeneas consult the Cumaean Sibyl before his descent to the lower world (Aeneid VI, 10). The Cumaean Sibyl offered to Tarquinius nine books of these prophecies; and as the king declined to purchase them, owing to the exorbitant price she demanded, she burned three and offered the remaining six to Tarquinius at the same stiff price, which he again refused, whereupon she burned three more and repeated her offer. Tarquinius then relented and purchased the last three at the full original price.

Sibyl Carlyle: One Hour Old

sibyl carlyle: 1 hour old

So we start at the beginning, or shortly after it. Sibyl, yelling her head off in the well-baby nursery at UCSF. Not so much as a bruise from the forceps. Her dad, cell phone in one hand, camera in the other, has followed her to watch the cleanup. Her mom, back in the labor and delivery room, still can't feel her feet as the Brian Eno playlist wafts through the room. Sibyl's a tad miffed at the events of the day, but she's a healthy six lbs, fifteen oz.
